Thirst Media presents tours of the Rothley Wine Estate ‘Kingfisher’s Pool’ vineyard. Tour and tasting takes 90 minutes and you can choose to purchase a ticket for the 12pm, 1.30pm or 3pm slot.
Tours will go ahead in all weathers and due to current Covid-19 restrictions all wine tastings are socially distanced and held outdoors in the open. Please come equipped with umbrellas or sun cream as appropriate!
You may only book for a group of up to 6 people in total due to current ‘Rule of Six’ restrictions, including any children or tour only guests. Guests booking larger groups will have to socially distance during the tour and will be seated for the tasting as discrete groups of no more than 6 people.
Your ticket includes a welcome drink, followed by a tour of the vineyard and winery. Enjoy the rows of vines flanked by native English roses, with the cheery sound of the Great Central Railway ringing out in the distance. Try and spot the namesake kingfishers down by the ancient pool.
You will learn all about growing grapes and making wine in the heart of the English countryside, direct from the experts. After the tour, we will make ourselves comfortable in the conservatory for a guided tasting from local food and wine writer Laura Hadland of Thirst Media. Enjoy a selection of delicious Rothley Wine Estate products in an idyllic setting.
Wine is available for purchase at a very special price if you wish to take a bottle or two home.
Accompanied children are welcome to join the tour, but we’re afraid tastings are strictly for over 18s, so you may wish to consider if little ones might get bored while you enjoy the tasting! There is plenty of outdoor space where you can supervise little ones playing if you want to bring them a ball or other game to keep them occupied during the tasting. Well behaved dogs on leads are also welcome, but please let us know in advance so we can confine the vineyard hens to their run!
The vineyard is a rural space so please wear appropriate footwear. There is level wheelchair access to both the vineyard and tasting room, although some areas of the vineyard may be more difficult to negotiate by wheelchair users. The tour will be adapted to take this into account so that nobody misses out on any of the detail.
Car parking is available on site in the side paddock, accessible from Westfield Lane. Please look out for roadside signage on the day.
Once purchased, tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled for any reason in which case guests will be offered an alternate date or full refund.
