Since our grand opening three groups of lovely people have visited the vineyard for a tour, tasting and “bring your own picnic” option. See the radiant smiles of the Woodhouse Eaves Book Club members.
Our wine tasting with Thirst Media have been very well received and all have been fully booked. These are run on certain Saturdays over the summer. See the “Visit the Vineyard” page for more information on how to book.
Russell Clarke with a gift for the Raffle
We are pleased to support the fundraising event called Beacon24 run by Falcon Support Services. They are conducting an endurance event at the Beacon over 24 hours – hence the name. We have donated a bottle of wine for the raffle, which Russell Clarke collected yesterday.
See more about this exciting event at http://www.giving-back.co.uk/beacon24.asp and on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/beacon24/. This worthwhile charity’s website is: www.falconsupportservices.org.uk
The sun shone down brightly on the 50 people who assembled to see the highly respected wine educator, Sue Lobb Dip.WSET, open the accessible route on Sunday 23rd April. There is a paved pathway from the courtyard to accessible toilet/wet room then round the garage to the conservatory tasting room. After this the pathways are grass on wider vine alleys which we mow and roll regularly. Of course adventurous wheelchair users can always go “off piste” when the ground conditions are dry. With five media representatives present we were thrilled with the support given. More on the events page.
Doris ripped off the roofing felt on the kingfisher watching hide. A kind neighbour has given us a remnant of roofing felt. Guess what we are doing at the weekend!
St Andrews Church Hall
Liz braved the chaotic roadworks on the Aylestone Road, and drove to St. Andrews Church Hall to talk to about 55 members of the Leicester NHS Retirement Fellowship. After a warm welcome the little LED projector rose to the occasion (it can struggle unless a room is very dark) and the audience enjoyed the presentation. BUT….they enjoyed tasting the wine even more!!! A great chat at the end, with warm wishes sent to former colleagues who Liz has not seen in years.
Jean Skinner arranged a surprise birthday event for friend Cath in August. A vineyard tour and wine tasting, with a picnic that they had all done a little cooking for, and then lots of merriment. Thanks to Maria for the photographs. This post is a little delayed, but then it is great to have sunny day photographs to cheer us up in February.
There are still a few tickets left for our event at Gelato village in St. Martins Square, Leicester on Tuesday 28th February. £10 to taste our lovely wines with the adorable flavours of this gelato. Really looking forward to being there and participating in this brilliant idea with Laura Hadland. We follow the Bordeaux tradition of “fining” the red wine with egg white to help sediment sink to the bottom of the tank. For the 2016 vintage Amber has the distinction of her egg being chosen. She is ever so eggscited!
Really pleased with the photographs Sammy of IsoElegant took the other day. Shame the weather was so, dull but we will call Sammy back when the sun is shining for the outdoor shots.
Really thrilled at the write up in Niche magazine. See
Congratulations to Caroline Clarke for winning this lovely prize.
There is still time to enter the competition. Results will be announced on Christmas Eve, so hurry to the competition page!!!
We are proud to supply our wines to Ragdale Hall and their guests seem to like them (especially King Richard) to the extent that Ragdale Hall have offered a prize to our followers. See our competition page for details.

Here is a photo from last year.
Rotavating (spelling?) went well on side lawn with the lumps and humps evened out. Due for grass seed soon. Will be some time before it is suitable for wheelchairs though!
Our new pink sparkling wine, Noble Purpose, won a silver medal at the Mercian Vineyards Association Competition yesterday. The grapes were grown by us and then made into sparkling wine by the Halfpenny Green Team. When you look at their impressive trophy haul yesterday, it is apparent what a talented and dynamic team they all are. We are certainly delighted by the taste of the new wine!
We are also pleased with the classic style label from BS labels, which is the first time we have had gold hot foil used.
Plastering finished and skirting boards started. Slabs on side path to car parking area re-laid.
Display unit put up in multipurpose room.
